Toddlers are one of the most difficult ones to teach. This is because it is not that easy to catch their attention and if you do, there is no assurance that they would remain interested in it for a long time. After all, they are known for having a short attention span. However, by simply turning your kitchen into a toddler friendly one, you are giving your child a place where they can learn some lessons. With that being said, try doing certain activities in your kitchen with your child. Consider the ones listed below.
Sometimes, being messy in the kitchen is not that bad. Give your kids an ingredient, preferably boiled ones that they can mash using their bare hands. This would help them develop their sense of touch. Of course, you need to ensure that your child is mashing it in a clean place so that there is no need for you to worry about them eating it afterwards. Don’t mind the mess that they would be creating for you can just clean it afterwards.
If you want to teach them how to become independent through activity toys for babies even at an early age, you can teach him/her that slowly. You can ask them to organize some items in your kitchen like your utensils and even plastic cups. Ask them to stack it in the cabinet. Of course, you need to ensure that they would not be in contact with a dangerous item such as scissors or a knife.
There are toddlers who are fond of playing in the water and if your child is one of them, then better take advantage of the situation and let them wash the fruits that they would be eating. As you teach them how to wash it, you can also teach them about the different colors and texture of fruits. You can also explain to them the benefits that they can get from eating it.
If in case you would be cooking in the kitchen, why not allow your kids to help you in some way like setting up their toddler table and chairs. It can be also as simple as cracking eggs and stirring ingredients. You can also let them pour the ingredients that you have measured. Your child would surely be delighted that you allowed him/her to help you. Also, if they have made some mistakes, just let it go and just consider it as a part of their learning process. Who knows, by doing this, your child might be able to enjoy the food more as they have helped in cooking it.
These activities would surely be something new, fun and exciting for your kids. However, there is still a need for you to ensure their safety while they are engaging in such activities. Never leave them alone and make sure that they would not reach anything that can do them harm. With that, you would be able to teach your kids a lesson in your toddler kitchen with ease.2016-08-12
